Your Feet and Ankles

These parts of your body take the most punishment, day in, day out. These major parts of your body are stressed whether you are just walking around the office, running on the field, or jogging at the park. Your feet and ankles take a beating every day. Any time you take a walk, a jog, or a run, your ankles and feet take the brunt of the impact of each step. Even athletes injure their feet and ankles when they don't follow the proper preventive care procedures.

One often overlooked fact is that problems with your feet can cause trouble in other body parts. There are steps you can take to avoid problems with your feet and other body parts. Your feet need training, just like every other body part and your mind. The first thing to do is exercise your feet and ankles to tone and strengthen them. Ankle weights or certain exercises can help you perform this. Other items used with this process may be balance disks, medicine balls, stretch bands, and other gym related equipment to enable your feet and ankles to be stronger.

When taking care of feet and ankles, proper coordination and balance should also be practiced. You are an accident waiting to happen if you don't have balance and coordination. Any moves you make that use your feet and ankles require good balance. You also need to develop a great deal of coordination in order to use various movements without constantly tripping or falling. Before participating in an athletic activity, be sure to stretch before and after the activity. By stretching your feet and ankles you can improve range of motion in your joints and muscles that will help to avoid any tearing that can result in damage.

What you do isn't important. Every person uses their feet, whether you are a businessman, athlete, mom, or laborer. This makes it very important for everyone to do what's necessary to avoid these injuries. You can't really replace your feet and ankles, so it's important to take good care of yourself, even when you're young. By training your body you are helping to improve your strength, coordination, and balance because you will need them later in life. Can you imagine what it would be like if you were to injure your foot or your ankle? It wouldn't matter how much it hurt, you would still need to be able to move around despite it. Therefore, you should start taking steps to prevent it right away.
